Key Information
At Hong Wen School, our Applied Learning Programme (ALP) is designed to cultivate Innovative and Inventive Learners through the Integration of Curriculum (I to I). We believe that interdisciplinary learning provides students with a holistic understanding of how to address real-world issues, as they apply their knowledge in authentic and practical learning environments.
Objectives of HWS ALP
To create impactful learning experiences, Hong Wen School adopts Modified Design Thinking (MDT) as a framework to develop 21st Century Competencies (E21CC) and foster essential learning dispositions in our students. MDT promotes a climate of inquiry, empowering students to take ownership of their learning as they progress through phases of questioning, investigating, and applying knowledge and skills to tackle real-world challenges. This approach also encourages collaboration and creates opportunities for meaningful feedback from teachers and peers.
Modified Design Thinking
In alignment with the Singapore Green Plan 2030, our ALP instills in students a sense of responsibility to contribute to building a sustainable future. Through the programme, students explore topics related to environmental sustainability and innovation, gaining deeper insights into how they can make a positive impact.
